On April 5th of next year, the nation’s foremost experts in steel construction will gather in the heart of the continent for the 2017 CISC Steel Design Awards. The gala, designed to highlight the accomplishments of companies in our region will bestow some of the most prolific designers, contractors and fabricators in fifteen different design categories that will give the public a rare glimpse of “turn of the century” architecture.
With the ‘who’s who’ of Canada’s steel industry attending, there will be representatives from across the industry including leading architects, designers, engineers, fabricators, and government officials. Not only will the weekend prove to be a fantastic opportunity to showcase the very best talent in our industry, but it will provide insiders with the chance to network with the top experts in the industry paving the way for future opportunity across our great nation.
Despite focusing on the Canadian steel moguls, the gala is open to anyone who benefits from the steel industry in Manitoba and Northwest Ontario. This is a prime chance to show your appreciation and support for the Canadian steel industry and let the men and women who erect structures that play a role in Canadian history know how much you value the hard work they do each and every day.
This celebration of 21st Century steel construction is your chance to connect with and celebrate the industry and is sure to be the event of the season. Taking place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the city offers breathtaking prairie sunsets, a vibrant nightlife, critically acclaimed restaurants and incredible shopping from the historical exchange district to the buzzing suburban box stores of Kenaston Commons.
Taking place at the newly constructed RBC Convention Centre in the heart of the city, it is a stone’s throw from the world renowned Canadian Museum for Human Rights, The Forks Market, the Centennial Concert Hall and the mom and pop shops and bistros of Corydon and Osborne.
With plenty to do on your tour of Winnipeg, a weekend won’t seem like enough. From Haunted Tours of some of Canada’s most historic buildings to river cruises in the summer, Winnipeg has something for everyone. Grand Beach, which is just a short drive from Winnipeg, has frequently been named one of the best beaches in the world, and Fort Whyte Alive is a protected grassland in the middle of a bustling city with herds of buffalo, waterfowl, wild animals and many outdoor activities year round. Whether you enjoy fine dining at the historic 529 Wellington or canoeing through the grasslands of Fort Whyte, there is something for the whole family in Winnipeg. We encourage you to make a trip of it and join us the week before or the week after the gala where our office will be happy to point you in the direction of Winnipeg’s many tourist attractions as well as the places us locals try to keep desperately to ourselves.
Welcome to friendly Manitoba. We can’t wait to see you at the 2017 CISC Steel Design Awards.
Until next week,
