I have been in the “welding” industry for almost twenty years. I have welded two times in my life. The first time I tried, I was terrible and my wire kept sticking. It was frustrating to say the least.
The second time. I did pretty well. Now, I am in no way saying that I am a welder, but in 19 years working with welding engineers, welding inspectors, welders and many other industry people, I have learned a thing or two about training.
What was different the second time I tried welding? The person teaching me, knew what they were doing. They explained the basics and walked me through each step of what I needed to do in order to accomplish what I was trying to do.
If you are thinking about becoming a welder, I can not stress enough the importance of good training.
Where to go for training in Manitoba
In Manitoba there are some great schools, with fantastic instructors. Red River College, Winnipeg Technical College and Neeginan Collage, (Centre for Aboriginal Human Resources Development)
These schools have instructors who can take you from whatever level you are starting at and give you the skills required to further your welding career.
Here at AXIS, we are in the process of developing a complimentary welder training program that will allow welders with the basic understanding to advance their career to the next level. Keep watching for the upcoming course outline and follow us on Twitter and Facebook for daily news updates.
Until next week,
