AXIS Inspection

Safety Resources

Safety is a huge conversation in our society now. And in the construction and heavy industrial industry, that I am involved it, it is a matter of life and death every day.

AXIS has always considered safety to be a high priority and ensure that we have high-quality safety equipment and train our employees to work safely. Over the past few years, this has included becoming Registered as a COR Certified company and adopting the philosophy of “if it isn’t documented, it didn’t happen”. Now please don’t think I am trying to say we have this all figured out and do everything perfectly because we are far from perfect, and there are daily “opportunities for improvement.”

In the last few years, we have learned that we don’t know everything and that there are some amazing resources out there! Some are free, and some are, well not free. But overall the safety industry is about sharing information, and there are lots of free resources out there. Just a google search away.

I am going to share with you some of the resources that we have found and give you, from my perspective some pro’s and cons.

Construction Safety Association of Manitoba – CSAM has amazing in person training for all the course requirements for your COR and SECOR certification. Additionally, they have inexpensive online training and free resources for tool box talks and safe job procedures.   If you are a member of the Winnipeg Construction Association, there are discounts available!

1Life – Is a local independently owned company that offers some great resources for starting your COR process, learning how to practically apply the requirements and to maintain your compliance. I love that their attitude focus’s on the big stuff first. They also have very currently and constantly updated safety talks and Safe Work Procedures. Their team is all about helping and keeping their clients current and giving their clients the practical tools and resources that they need.

Site Docs – Site Docs is an on line resources that allows you to customize your safety forms, and allow real-time monitoring of forms being completed. Individuals can complete the forms and sign them right on their phone or IPad.

There is some overlap between 1Life and Site Docs. Check them both out and see what works best for you!

There are some free resources at the Manitoba Work Place Safety & Health Website. – SAFE WORK

Safety is a daily, on going task. We are never “done”. I would love to hear about any resources that you have found that work for your company!

Until next week,
